the platform on sustainable finance is an intergovernmental initiative which will be launched in 2021. its task will be to develop a set of rules and principles and a set of actions for governments, the private sector and civil society that will help achieve and measure sustainable financial development. the teg will assist the platform on sustainable finance by providing its work with public finance expertise. its members will also advise the platform on sustainable finance on how to ensure that their work contributes to the goals of sustainable financial development and helps measure its progress. this will include advising on how to include public finance in the platform on sustainable finance. the teg will also produce a final report on the work of the technical workstream and the future platform on sustainable finance.
specifically, the teg will be examining the following themes: the role of public finance in the financial system; financial inclusion and financial inclusion for sustainable finance; understanding the role of public finance in achieving sustainable finance; the impact of public finance on climate change and the transition to a low carbon economy. each workstream will also be examining other themes relevant to achieving sustainable finance, such as the role of incentives, opportunities and r&d in driving market-based solutions, the role of financial innovation in sustainable finance, the role of public finance in sustainable finance, and measuring and reporting progress in sustainable finance.
